What: Eco-Buffer Tree & Fruiting-Bearing Hedge Planting

Where: South of Rimbey AB

Why: The scope of this eco-buffer planting project was to connect neighbouring sections of standing forests to one another, allowing for a deer and wildlife corridor to grow over a 2km stretch across multiple sections of pasture and agricultural fields. We planted roughly 18,500 seedlings over about a week, taking care to plant each of the 11 species according to their specific needs. Some added benefits include erosion control, enhanced privacy for the land owners, pickable saskatoon berries for years to come, and overall beautification.

Species: Jack Pine, White Spruce, Black Spruce, Tamarack Larch, Bebbs Willow, Sandbar Willow, Canada Buffaloberry, Saskatoon Berry, Choke Cherry, Trembling Aspen, and Balsam Poplar.
